WORSHIP SERVICES:
Greeter - stand near the entrance prior to the service to say hello and make everyone feel welcome as they come into our church
Sound Tech - run the sound system during the service
Usher - Hand out bulletins, offer assistance, and many other important duties
Counter - carefully count the offerings after the service, prepare the deposit and deliver it to the bank
Acolyte - one person each week helps during the service by lighting the candles, etc.
Lector - read the lessons and Gospel reading aloud to the congregation as part of the worship service
Worship Assistant - assist the pastor especially during the distribution of Communion
Cantor - sing solos during sections of the liturgy
Altar Guild - prepare the sanctuary for worship by changing the paraments, filling Communion cups, preparing for baptisms, etc.
NURSERY:
The Emmaus Nursery is available for children ages 0-5 on Sundays during the Education Hour at 9:45, and during the 11:00 worship service. For more information about volunteering in the Emmaus Nursery, visit the Nursery Page.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:
Emmaus holds Vacation Bible School (VBS) for one week during the summer. Helpers and treat-servers are often needed! Watch for more information in late spring.
SUNDAY SCHOOL:
Helpers and teachers are needed. Sunday School is held from September through May during the Education Hour between church services at 9:45.
SPRING AND FALL CLEANUP:
Help keep Emmaus neat and tidy. In the spring and fall a Cleanup Day is scheduled for raking, organizing, polishing and washing at Emmaus. More help is certainly welcome! Watch for further announcements and colorful "job cards" in the narthex.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
Emmaus volunteers have been delivering Meals on Wheels to shut-ins for many years. More drivers are needed to help deliver meals one Tuesday per month.
FARE FOR ALL:
Emmaus is host site for this program in which volunteers work for selected non-profit organizations approximately two hours a month. The volunteers then become eligible to receive special food packages which are made available from time to time during the year. To register with Fare for All, call 763-450-3880 or 1-800-582-4291. BLOOD DRIVE:
Each year Emmaus hosts a Red Cross blood drive, usually in December. Watch for more information this winter in our calendar.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:
Members of Emmaus participate in this wonderful outreach each year. In late fall a sign-up sheet is posted to join the group going to the distribution center to help sort shoeboxes, and many members fill shoeboxes of their own to be delivered to children in poverty throughout the world.
